Cinemas around Chivenor

Scott Cinemas

77 Boutport St, Barnstaple EX31 1SR, UK – 01271 370022

Always have loved going to the cinema. Although Scott's Cinema(s) are a chain they're not a huge corporate conglomerate making your visit a personal experience, still. I think the Silver Screen on Wednesday morning a really good idea. Not only is it affordable it allows you catch up with a film you didn't see the first time around. And a plus point for being in the town AND for having courteous staff.

A good local cinema, if a little dated. The screens are big and bright but the picture quality could be better. The sound is good, the surround is well separated and good bass. The chairs are ok, but the arm rests are hard and narrow. It isn't worth paying for the "premium" seating as it's hardly any different. There are 4 screens so there's always a good selection of films available. They offer a "silver screen" on Wednesday mornings which i guess was originally for older ones but is available for anyone where they show a slightly older film (6 months ish) for almost half price and you get a free cup of tea or coffee which is a great idea.

Queen's Theatre

100 Boutport St, Barnstaple EX31 1SY, UK – 01271 316063

Fantastic when packed for a good show. Have seen Show of Hands here, Port Isaac's Fishermen's Friends, Pantomimes etc and it is always a lovely venue to attend. I hope that it doesn't close. I guess if they don't put on things that people are drawn to, then they won't get good audiences. Get some good performers and this place will be packed as people want a good theatre to visit in North Devon rather than travelling to Plymouth.

The David Bowie tribute was good, it wasn't well advertised so lots of empty seats.

Vodafone

23, Green Lanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple EX31 1UH, UK

Always busy but staff very helpful and friendly alway willing to help

All the staff are amazing, very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, calm in answering stupid questions from myself, kept promises that were made. I don't know any other store that would spend an hour and a half with one customer.......
